:: Sex therapy
An active sex life is an enjoyable and important element of a healthy relationship. However, most people encounter sexual problems at some point in their lives. There are lots of physical and emotional reasons why this can happen - like stress, illness, family or work pressures and even a new baby. Often, these problems don't last long, but when it does, Chesterfield Relate can help.
When can Relate help?
We can support you when problems like loss of desire, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation or painful intercourse occur and don't pass quickly.
Who comes to Relate for sex therapy?
People who come for sex therapy can be part of a couple, single, in a same-sex relationship, young or old. many people are referred by their GP, but you can choose to contact us directly. If you do, please make it clear you would like to see a sex therapist.
What is involved?
Initially, you will explore what you want to achieve or change about your sexual relationship and what the reasons might be. Your therapist will then discuss the best way forward with you. If we can help, you will have regular sessions with your therapist and will be given a programme of excercises to do at home and then discuss your progress. Don't worry, you will never be asked to undertake any sexual tasks during a session.
