:: For the family
Who is Family Counselling for?
Families, parents and children, siblings, blended families and extended families.
Is it right for us?
All familes argue from time to time and usually the situation is easily resolved and blows over. But sometimes it just gets worse. Big family changes can be stressful, long family disputes can cause everyone pain and one family member's problems can affect their relationships with others. This is when we can help you work things out in a way that's best for everyone.
How can Relate help?
Every family is unique and faces unique challenges, but our counsellors are experienced relationship experts and are specially trained to help families resolve their difficulties.
What does the counselling involve?
Our counsellors won't take sides and won't tell you what to do. They will explore your family relationships and work with you to move away from the problems. Before you begin any counselling you will have an initial consulation, then you make appointments with the counsellor that you all attend. The counsellor may suggest family members sometimes come alone, in smaller groups or invite other relatives to attend.
What will be expected of me?
We do ask you to keep your appointments and give us as much notice as you can if you need to cancel so the slot can be offered to someone else.
How can I find out more about Family Counselling?
Just get in touch with us using the details on the 'contact us' page. And please remember,
everything you tell us during your counselling will be confidential unless someone is at risk
of harm. Especially if it is a child.
